Opened in 2014, Assembly Row is a new mixed-use development on 45 waterfront acres in Somerville, Mass. Located on a previously underdeveloped site on the Mystic River, Assembly Row’s master plan was conceived and coordinated by developer Federal Realty Investment Trust, which retained Code Red Consultants to provide fire protection and life safety code consulting for the retail and restaurant interior fit-outs. The firm worked closely with the client and various retail tenants to solve code compliance challenges, providing code reports, drawing reviews, and meeting with building and local fire officials to develop alternative compliance methods. The Assembly Row neighborhood will include 972,000 SF of retail space by the time the multi-phased development is complete.
