Prior to joining Code Red Consultants, Jeremy served more than 24 years in the fire service, having achieved the rank of Deputy Fire Chief. His background as Authorities Having Jurisdiction perspective affords him unique perspective, as he regularly performed on-site inspections, plan reviews, and acceptance tests. His background includes expertise in water- and non-water-based fire suppression systems, fire protection and life safety in transportation facilities.  Jeremy also has substantial experience in the storage, distribution, and transportation of flammable liquids and hazardous materials. He has taught classes on flammable liquid firefighting and fuel systems across the northeastern U.S. for nearly a decade. His project work includes building surveys, third-party inspections, plan reviews, and developing unique solutions to code compliance challenges.

What is something that colleagues and clients might not know about you?

I am working my way through hiking all 48 of the 4,000-foot high mountains in New Hampshire.

Paul brings a decade of experience in fire protection and life safety consulting.  He excels at creatively addressing project challenges and providing performance-based design solutions where the application of prescriptive code approaches do not meet the design and safety needs of the project. His technical specialties include egress modeling for large assembly and transportation projects, structural steel fire-resistance rating simulations, and smoke-control models for atria tenability. Paul particularly enjoys collaborating with design teams, owners, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction to develop safe and compliant approaches that satisfy architectural intent, feasibility, and occupant safety.

Paul’s experience includes projects for higher education, healthcare, residential, and transportation clients as well as a variety of laboratory buildings such as research and development facilities, manufacturing buildings, and educational laboratories. He focuses on understanding the code compliance challenges these occupancies can present based on their high chemical usage and the necessary coordination between numerous applicable codes and standards. Paul is skilled at clearly communicating technical concepts to clients and interfacing with building and fire officials to bring projects to successful fruition.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Seeing the successful completion of design challenges that include multi-disciplinary coordination in conjunction with alternative approaches. I take pride in delivering a single, cohesive solution that is agreeable to all stakeholders from a cost, design, safety, and usability perspective.

With over a decade of professional experience, Maxwell brings comprehensive expertise in electrical, mechanical and fire protection engineering to his role at Code Red Consultants. His project work includes performing life safety inspections, audits, and analyses, including third party site inspection and testing for a variety of projects. He excels at collaborating with clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction to engineer resolutions for complex fire protection and life safety issues.

Maxwell’s portfolio includes projects for college and university buildings, athletic facilities, high-rise office and residential buildings, laboratories, shopping malls, and other mixed-use buildings. Prior to joining Code Red Consultants, he worked as a fire protection engineer with The 3M Company, serving on a cross-functional team developing, testing, and applying active and passive fire protection products.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I enjoy the fast pace and constant variability of being a professional fire protection engineer and life safety consultant. I learn something new every day.

Jeff has over a decade of experience developing prescriptive code compliance strategies and providing alternative solutions for complex fire protection and life safety issues. He brings a deep understanding of codes and extensive hands-on project experience, key attributes that allow him to anticipate potential issues early in the design process. He excels at developing performance-based design options and alternative methods where strict compliance with the code is not practical. Working with clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction, he takes pride in his responsiveness and problem-solving abilities that lead to successful project delivery.

In addition to code consulting, Jeff specializes in using fire modeling and egress modeling as tools for evaluating potential conditions within atriums and large assembly spaces during emergency events. The results of these analyses are used to identify specific challenges and possible compliance strategies that are not offered prescriptively. His project work includes high-rise office and residential buildings, laboratory facilities, athletic centers, academic buildings, shopping malls, campus centers, historic buildings and educational facilities.

I enjoy being a part of a strong team that can successfully collaborate to create a space that exceeds an owner’s vision and expectations.

Jason is a registered professional fire protection engineer with experience performing fire and life safety evaluations, drawing reviews, and developing code compliance strategies for both new and existing buildings. He has both an interest and a specialty in providing field services such as accessibility reviews and third party firestopping inspections. Jason collaborates closely with clients to offer alternative solutions to identified code compliance issues, and strives to provide prompt communication and timely deliverables that empower clients’ decision-making in the design process.

He enjoys interacting with a variety of stakeholders, including general contractors, architects, building managers/owners, and developers, to see all perspectives and stages of the building life cycle. Jason’s client work includes projects for higher education, healthcare, large assembly spaces, residential, hazardous materials, and mixed-use buildings.

What is something that colleagues and clients might not know about you?

As a student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, I played soccer with my Code Red Consultants colleague Paul Moan, and I still play recreational soccer with colleague Corey Fisher.

James is focused on providing client-driven fire protection and life safety code consulting services to architects, contractors, building owners, and other engineers to achieve compliance with local, state, and federal codes and standards. He has consulted on a variety of project types including healthcare, higher education, high-rise buildings, large assembly spaces, mixed-use buildings, storage warehouses, military, and government-owned facilities. Notably, he has significant experience providing healthcare code consulting services for new construction, addition, and renovation projects. He has worked closely with healthcare facilities, engineering departments, and designers to perform analysis and advise on maintaining compliance with the requirements of The Joint Commission and Center for Medicare and Medicare Services for existing buildings.

He enjoys providing consulting services for the total life cycle of a building, from preliminary design and construction inspections to commissioning of fire alarm and smoke control systems and certificate of occupancy. James is particularly interested in healthcare code consulting, smoke control special inspection, smoke control retest services, and firestopping special inspections.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

It is gratifying to help clients navigate their unique challenges and develop solutions and strategies that make the project successful. Clients appreciate my creative, outside-the-box thinking.

As a consultant and project manager, Corey excels at providing timely, alternative solutions to complex problems discovered in the field. Dedicated to every project he works on, he is astute as delivering technical information to clients and quickly addressing their questions and needs. Corey has extensive experience developing in-depth code analysis and construction fire safety plans for both new and existing buildings. He also specializes in performing field surveys related to existing building evaluations, construction site inspections, and third party inspections. His project work spans healthcare, higher education, high-rise buildings, large assembly spaces, and mixed-use buildings.

I am also a nationally certified firefighter and EMT.

Chad is an accomplished fire protection and life safety engineer with over a decade of experience providing client-driven consulting services. He is skilled at negotiating with Authorities Having Jurisdiction to present alternative means and methods for achieving code compliance, and collaborating with clients to offer solutions satisfactory to all stakeholders. Chad is proficient at developing in-depth, visual egress simulations for various facility types including high-rise and large assembly buildings. His portfolio includes projects for healthcare, higher education, transportation facilities, high-rise buildings, large assembly spaces, and mixed-use buildings, storage warehouses, military installations, and government-owned facilities.

Committed to client satisfaction, Chad stays involved with his projects from design assistance and construction operations planning to the commissioning of fire alarm and smoke control systems. He enjoys – and excels at – the fast-paced environment of consulting and the ability to work on a variety of projects from different angles. His professional interests include designing fire alarm and protection systems, commissioning smoke control systems, and developing construction fire safety plans.

I am an avid snowboarder.

Caitlin brings more than a fifteen years of experience performing fire protection, life safety and accessibility code analysis, developing code compliance strategies, and devising alternative solutions for complex code compliance issues. Her consulting work has involved architectural and engineering design document compliance reviews, existing building condition assessments, fire protection system testing and commissioning, third-party reviews for fire sprinkler and alarm shop drawing submittals, and alternative compliance/variance documentation and presentations. During the construction process, she conducts site inspections to confirm that construction is in accordance with both the project documents and applicable codes. Clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction value the clear, concise and timely way she delivers technical information.

Working on a wide range of issues and project types, Caitlin enjoys that every day of her job is different and each project brings new and interesting challenges. She understands the importance of her clients’ project goals and strives to exceed their expectations. She has worked on projects involving high-rise residential buildings, mixed-use developments, hotels, academic buildings, hospitals, office buildings, and large tenant fit-outs. Caitlin has particular interest in accessibility compliance, residential wood construction, and existing building renovations.

He collaborates closely with clients to develop prescriptive code compliance strategies and offers alternative performance-based solutions to complex compliance issues that meet the needs of all stakeholders. In working with clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction, Brian strives to provide prompt communication and timely deliverables that advance both the client’s goals and occupant safety.

A responsive, solutions-driven consultant who is attentive to client and project needs, Brian takes pride in his ability to convey a wide range of technical information in logical and easy-to-understand ways. Aside from building and life safety code compliance, Brian’s interests and specialties include mass timber construction, smoke control systems, fire modeling, structural fire resistance, and façade flammability hazards. His work has focused on industrial, transportation, mixed-use commercial, assembly, and high-end residential project types.

I am an RYT200-certified yoga instructor.
