As an Associate Principal and Sr Project Manager, Dan enjoys collaborating with architects, owners, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction to deliver integrated solutions to complex fire and life safety challenges. With more than fifteen years of experience, Dan has worked in a wide variety of market sectors and building types, including high-rise construction, mixed-use commercial, large assembly, industrial, higher education, transportation, and healthcare. He specializes in building and fire code consulting, fire protection system design and testing, smoke control special inspections and integrated testing.  Additionally, he has a passion for  developing compliance strategies for both prescriptive and alternative solutions in new and existing buildings.

Dan enjoys that no two projects are exactly alike, and that unique buildings require unique solutions. He thrives in the problem-solving environment that this inherently creates and takes pride in helping clients achieve their goals while creating buildings that are safe for occupants. Dan views a project’s progression, from design concept through construction, to be one of the most rewarding aspects of working in this industry.

What is something that colleagues and clients might not know about you?

When I was three and a half years old, my preschool teacher predicted that I would grow up to be an engineer. I also loved doing jigsaw puzzles as a child. Today, I’m still that engineer who loves to solve puzzles. I’m fortunate I can apply my curiosity and love of problem-solving to my professional challenges, and work with others who also love what they do.

Jeff has over a decade of experience developing prescriptive code compliance strategies and providing alternative solutions for complex fire protection and life safety issues. He brings a deep understanding of codes and extensive hands-on project experience, key attributes that allow him to anticipate potential issues early in the design process. He excels at developing performance-based design options and alternative methods where strict compliance with the code is not practical. Working with clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction, he takes pride in his responsiveness and problem-solving abilities that lead to successful project delivery.

In addition to code consulting, Jeff specializes in using fire modeling and egress modeling as tools for evaluating potential conditions within atriums and large assembly spaces during emergency events. The results of these analyses are used to identify specific challenges and possible compliance strategies that are not offered prescriptively. His project work includes high-rise office and residential buildings, laboratory facilities, athletic centers, academic buildings, shopping malls, campus centers, historic buildings and educational facilities.

What do you love most about your job?

I enjoy being a part of a strong team that can successfully collaborate to create a space that exceeds an owner’s vision and expectations.
