Nate Birmingham, P.E.

Sr Principal, Vice President

A Senior Principal and Vice President at Code Red Consultants with more than fifteen years of project experience, Nate is equally skilled at performance-based code consulting and design as he is with construction inspection and fire protection commissioning. He has led projects involving integrated life safety systems testing, smoke control special inspections, code compliance alternatives and equivalencies, and third-party reviews and inspections. Nate particularly enjoys providing consulting services for the total life cycle of a building, from design and construction inspections to commissioning and re-commissioning life safety systems.

Nate has significant experience with using computer fire modeling to evaluate smoke control system designs protecting atria and large assembly spaces. Working with the design and construction team, his technical analyses are used to identify specific challenges and possible compliance strategies that are not offered prescriptively. Nate collaborates closely with clients to find solutions that balance their project goals with adherence to the core principles of safety and compliance. His project work includes high-rise buildings, atria, offices and corporate headquarters, science facilities utilizing hazardous materials, healthcare facilities, residential buildings, and large mixed-use developments.

As a member of Code Red Consultants’ leadership team, Nate promotes a culture of learning, innovation, and technical excellence. He prides himself on being an attentive, hands-on principal focused on the professional development of Code Red Consultants’ staff.
