“The risks are real across our industry, and in every aspect of our work, including ones we can’t always see—the outside stresses and distractions that interfere with our ability to stay present, focused and safe on the job. That’s why it’s critically important to promote holistic safety in the workplace. This means ensuring that we are always both physically and mentally present, and that we make every aspect of our wellbeing part of our safety culture and programs. We must prioritize both physical and psychological safety, and how together, they play an important role in our relationships with our team members and with our ability to bring our safest, most productive, best selves to work every day.”

Here at Code Red Consultants, we are committed to making the built environment a safer place through all phases of a building’s life cycle. This commitment to safety begins when the project is in its infancy and continues through occupancy, inclusive of the construction phase where safety hazards can be the most prevalent and challenging. It is a collaborative effort with all project stakeholders, from the owner and design team to the contractors and authorities having jurisdiction. Within a construction market where an ever-increasing emphasis is placed on delivering buildings more rapidly, on time and within budget, it is important to retain focus on maintaining a safe and healthy construction environment. Through leveraging our expertise in code consulting, fire protection design, and fire & life safety related testing and inspection services we strive to develop and deploy holistic solutions to the unique challenges posed by active construction sites. As project delivery schedules are compressed, the challenges with doing so are compounded, involving not only the increased pace of the construction activities, but also the corresponding impact on aspects such as the available fire and life safety features and complex phasing of construction and building occupancy. Our team of consultants take pride in understanding the importance of safety. The safety of construction personnel, emergency responders and the public is paramount in all aspects of our work but at the forefront with the development of Construction Fire Safety Plans, Impairment Plans, Phased Occupancy Plans, Temporary Fire Protection Designs, and the corresponding field inspections.
Our field services personnel hold OSHA 10 certification and are equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) to safely work all on project sites and be an active part of the process. We remain aware that site-specific safety requirements exist on each construction site and attend the necessary pre-requisite safety training and orientation to ensure we are conducting business appropriately for the specific site hazards. Where specific market sectors present unique challenges, additional training is also pursued as needed – such as Right of Way Training for engaging in project work in or around active transit rail and/or bus lines and facilities. Even more importantly, we reinforce foundational training by empowering our staff to not only recognize unsafe conditions, but also speak up and raise awareness while engaged on construction sites. Our goal is to bring excellence to all aspects of the fire and life safety consulting world as there are few venues where the importance is more underscored or tangible than on an active construction site.
